Re: Looking for substitute for polaris agl transmission fluid I used castrol synthetic 75-90 gear oil in rear diff, t case, trans on my rzr. Only thing bought is the special front diff oil from polaris. long live the rev 08-09 xp's are like riding a buffalo. The only oil developed for your engine. The recommended AMSOIL product for the Polaris AGL Plus is AMSOIL Synthetic Chaincase & Gear Oil. This is about SAE 20 at 100°C. This is about SAE 20 at 100°C. This stuff is $21/qt. Polaris AGL Plus is $15/qt. Takes 2 qts for a drain/refill so, I am looking for something with a better price point than either of these two. Ask the Editors: Is There An Alternative for Polaris AGL? By Jason Giacchino - August 3, 2015 Dear ATVC: I need a safe alternative gear oil to Polaris AGL for my 95 Scrambler 400.
21 May 2014 It has chains and gears in it just like an automobile motor and motor oil is good enough for it. I wish someone could explain to me why they will put
Some use Mobile 1 75/90 synthetic gear oil in place of AGL. I have been using Amsoil but through hours of research I am going to use the Shaffer's synthetic hydraulic fluid I have in drums for both front and rear. JD20 rated and if it keeps tractor gears running good it will work in the Polaris gear case. The gear oil AGL is not real fussy and the Polaris Transmissions are about indestructible. About any motor oil will work in there, although the lighter the better. I like ATF +4 Dodge ATF in there but ant ATF will work really. They are not real demanding, just do not use Gear oil. The AGL oil used by Polaris is a unique oil because the transmission configuration requires the oil to have a specific "climb-rate" to oil the upper shafts and gears of the tranny. I can't say there isn't an equivalent, but proceed with caution. Doesn't mean there is nothing equivalent or better. Oil refinarys make the oil I belive there are 3 in the US. After all an engine is a engine and a diff is a diff. Polaris is the only company I know of that doesn't list their oil specifications.
